The Story
How it happened
With a background in architecture, urban design, graphic and web site design, jewelry was a happy accident. It began when a bead/charm store near me in Boston was closing and everything was on sale. Most of the inventory was gone when I got there, but I stumbled across some tiny silverware. A fork, a spoon and a knife. Needing something to make them purposeful, I decided to look for a way to make an egg. I had no luck in bead and craft stores. Then I stumbled upon an ad for an introduction to glass bead making at a nearby studio. I was hooked. Not only did I make the eggs I needed (see Breakfast earrings), I made hundreds of glass beads.
Eventually I moved to Los Angeles and was distressed to find no studios for lampwork there. It meant I had to start using my then thousands of beads for something and began making jewelry. The COVID quarantine then enabled me to hunker down and learn a new medium, polymer clay, which had been starting to pique my interest. Needless to say, I had lots of time to experiment and research. It has sucked up all my time and now I must do something with all the jewelry I have created. Here it is and I hope you find something you like!
